General description:

The International Amsterdam Medical summer school will give students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge about global infectious diseases, think out of the box and learn about other cultures and make friends from all over the world. This will all be done through different teaching methods and will take place in Amsterdam for seven days.

AMR, tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, hiv/aids, ebola, childhood diseases, cholera

Problem statement:

The lack of out of the box thinking and extracurricular knowledge on global infectious diseases.

Objectives and indicators of success:

To educate medical students and teach skills to deal with infectious diseases on a local, national and global level. This will be done with a week of education in the UMC Amsterdam, location AMC. We will have different lectures and teaching methods to not only broaden their knowledge but also teach them how to think out of the box. During and at the end of the week the students will get assignments and do presentation to show what they have learned.

Methodology:

Through different teaching methods, such as patients colleges, working groups, e-learnings, storytelling and so on we plan to achieve our goals.

Plans for evaluation:

Each year we have several evaluations during the week and an evaluation that the participants will receive after the summerschool.
