Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).

General description:

In the symposium, there were eight different session during two days.

First day:

-Ethical Process of Organ Donation

-Health Access and Humanitarian Aid

-Being a Cancer Patient

-Mental Health Policies

Second day:

-Children’s Rights and Health : Child Abuse and Neglect

-HIV+ Individuals

-Rights Advocacy and Health

-Approach of Youth Organizations to Health Concept

In these sessions, there were ten speakers from different establishment; like WHO-Turkey and Y-PEER Turkey.

Every session took time about fourty five minute except “Children’s Rights and Health : Child Abuse and Neglect” because this session was a panel with three speakers.

We had about one hundred participants and most of them were medical students.

Problem statement:

There are many people who can not reach health services and who are subject to negligence during the health service they receive.

On the basis of these situations which constitute serious problems in terms of human rights and health, we organized our symposium that we aimed to approach human rights and health issues in as many different ways as possible, in Istanbul Aydın University.

Objectives and indicators of success:

Our objectives are;

-Raise awareness for medical students

-Strengthen advocacy activities

-Take attention about different topics that are about health and human rights

-Increase the level of knowledge about different topics that are about health and human rights

-Explain the concept of health ethically

Methodology:

Our activity was a symposium in our country. In activity we had eight session during two days and their subjects were;

We aimed to show our participants a wide variety of aspects.

In the end of the symposium we had an online feedback form and we wanted to our participants to fill this online form.

After the activity- we had an online feedback form. And we want our participants to fill this online form. And in the last session, we discussed and evaluated our activity.
