Name of the activity: MAMA (Maternal Acquintance Mom’s Awareness)
Country/NMO: Indonesia (CIMSA-ISMKI)
Program: Maternal Health & Access to Safe Abortion
Type of the activity: Education. Education on health issues for specific societal groups, either in the form of projects (set of tasks for a certain group over a fixed period of time), events (something notable that happens) or conferences (form meeting about ideas related to a particular topic, usually over several days).
Activities carried out during the implementation of MAMA COMDEV are bonding and intervention. At the time of bonding, TTV was checked first by OC MAMA followed by pregnant women’s gymnastics in collaboration with the Healthy House of the Midwife Mother. In the next intervention activity, material was given about ANC (Antenatal Care). Routine checking of TTV is carried out before the bonding and the COMDEV MAMA intervention. The provision of material was given by Doctors FK UNEJ and Young Doctors who had taken the Obstetric Test. Every time the intervention and bonding is finished, sharing sessions are always held about pregnancy with the speakers who come and the provision of soy milk. This is because there are still many pregnant women who do not know what are the myths and facts about pregnancy. In order for pregnant women to be more excited and interested in coming back to the next activity, games and door prizes were given for household appliances.
Maternal Healthcare Services (antenatal, antepartum and postpartum care)
According to the health profile of Kabupaten Jember, in 2014 in Kecamatan Arjasa (Arjasa subdistrict) the number dropped out of the ANC is very high (K1 = 97%; K4 = 47%). This certainly has a big influence on AKI (MMR) at Jember. Therefore, MAMA decided to focus on ANC, especially improving the number of ANCs in Kemuninglor Village, Arjasa subdistrict as an effort to reduce the MMR in the Regency Jember.
