General description:

PREDICTION (Prevent Diabetes with Action) are activities that held as a form of commemoration of the world diabetes day and as a form of MSCIA’s concern for the world of health in Indonesia. PREDICTION is an activity aimed at increasing people’s knowledge of diabetes, and helping the wider community to prevent this disease, and at the same time providing a forum for FKUB students to contribute directly by showing their concern for people with diabetes through providing counseling activities. The peak of this activity will be held to coincide with the commemoration of the world diabetes day by holding healthy gymnastics, free examinations (especially blood sugar), cooking competitions and games about diabetes

Problem statement:

Based on Health Research data, the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in Malang City ranks 3rd in East Java, namely 7,534 sufferers (Lukita, 2016). Based on Health Office in Malang, we found out that Rampal Celaket health center has the most visitors of diabetics in Malang City.

We chatted with the Head of the Rampal Celaket Health Center, drg. Zamroni and found that the number of diabetics in Rampal Celaket Health Center are very high. A survey of 150 houses in RW 03, 104 were highly risk

Objectives and indicators of success:

1. Provide appropriate knowledge, and skills for volunteers about diabetes and ways to educate their patients and measured with a 30% increasing of pre and post score for two weeks

2. Provide free medical check-ups for diabetes and promote healthy lifestyles by providing guidance about behavioral interventions for diet changes and physical activity measured with monitoring of blood glucose every 4 month for five years

3. Increase the awareness of the society in Malang, East Java, especially the community in Rampal Celaket by educating them about Diabetes then measured by the citizens that come to our free medical checkup and decreased 65% high risk people of diabetes in Rampal Celaket from year to year for 5 years

4. Reduce the incidence of diabetes in Malang for 5 years by monitoring data in Public Health Office of Malang City

SUCCESS INDICATORS :

1. Increasing post test from pre test = 30%

2. Volunteer attendance = 70%

3.Cadre attendance = 80%

4. Citizens attendance = 100 people in Rampal Celaket, and 180 people in CFD (Car Free Day) Ijen

4. Questionaire of pleasent = 80%

5. Implementation of healthy gymnastic and healthy food stalls every 4 month in Rampal Celaket

Methodology:

We implemented a sustainable system that is raided every 4 months, where we do diabetes exercises, blood sugar monitoring, education about diabetes, nutritional consultations, and healthy food stalls.

In addition, we also train communication skills to cadres that have been formed to provide education to the community in Rampal Celaket and train them the usage and steps of checking glucose level using the glucometer and blood pressure using the sphygmomanometer.

To celebrate World Diabetes Day, we hold an activity where volunteers will provide education to the general public and provide free medical check-ups in the form of BMI, blood pressure and blood sugar check-ups. there are also doctors standing by if the patient in need of a consultation

Plans for evaluation:

Before conducting the activity we have conducted a survey where the results of pre-activity states that rampal celakat residents have the lowest data in conducting examination to the clinic as well as having the highest prevalence data in diabetics. After we carried out three interventions in getting that rampal wretch citizens have started to care about their health is evidenced by Jumah citizens who follow the free examination of 127 people. In addition we also do post test in every training of cadres

We also always do intervention to Rampal Celaket every 4 month to evaluate the condition of the people in there
