General description:

The main goals of the activity:

– to provide pre-clinical year medical students with the information about NCDs, modified risk factors, to motivate them to follow healthy lifestyle

– to train 5th year medical students in public speaking skills and to motivate them to take an action (for example, deliever lectures or start their own projects) regarding NCDs

– provide the opportunity for collaboration between pre-clinical and 5th year medical students, to empower them with the competencies helpful to start further projects.

Problem statement:

According to WHO, each year, 15 million people die from a NCD between the ages of 30 and 69 years; over 85% of these “premature” deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Since Russia can be classified as a low-income country, the problem is highly relevant

NCDs are global burden but, fortunately, they are preventable. Healthy lifestyle can decrease the level of NCDs.

Objectives and indicators of success:

1. Course of lectures for 5th year medical students is organised under the supervision of tutors of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy and Clinical Pharmacology during the period from October to December. At least 9 lectures and 10 attendees

2. Training of public speaking skills for 5th year medical students is organised after the course of lectures after the lecture courses. At least 5 trainings and 10 attendees

3. Course of lectures for pre-clinical year medical students is organised by 5th year medical students with at least 15 attendees during the period from October to December.

4. Evaluation of the acquired knowledge and skills at the end of the lecture courses. At least 80% of attendees with the result up to 70%

5. Providing participants with an opportunity for collaboration and organization their own project on the topic according their field of interests. At least 25% of attendees will be involved in organization of further projects.

Methodology:

-Make an agreement with the Department of Polyclinic Therapy and Pharmacology about the topics of lectures

-Find and reserve the lecture room

-Make a advertisement in social media to attract more attendees

-Provide lecture room with the necessery equipment

Plans for evaluation:

– the number of attendees (pre-clinical year participants, clinical year participants)

– the number of lectures delievered by tutors, by clinical students themselves

– the results of the test at the end of the lecture courses

– the number of new projects organized by attendees
