Our goal population are all medical students, who are interested in emergency medicine.
The puspose of Emergency Motivational Weekend is to find stutends who would like to specialize in emergency medicine, to have fun and to get to know each other. We would also like to show them what are the pros of EM and why is it so special. The purpose is not to teach them about treting emergency situations but to show them how important is team work, how to learn emergency medicine in an easy way and to present them the social networks and other media where they can find up to date information in EM.
The emergency medicine workshop project aims to refine and deepen the knowledge and skills that are essential for treatment of emergency patients. Our target population is primarily medical students of higher classes, especially the 5th and 6th year, who are interested in the field of emergency medicine.
The purposes of the project are:
1. To upgrade existing knowledge in the field of treatment emergencies,
2. To adopt practical skills needed for emergencies,
3. To mind automation of protocols in urgent care and emergency situations and,
4. To become familiar with the use of medical equipment and devices used in the treatment of patients in an emergency situation.
Our project is a one time per year project for a limited number of students. The project is divided into two sections, the first volume consists of theoretical basis for dealing with emergencies in the form of lectures and discussions. The second set comprises the practical implementation of workshops on selected topics. Holders of performance are doctors, experts from the field in question.
In year 2014, our project was first time performed and achieved a big success. Lectures covered selected topics: treatment algorithms (ACLS and ATLS), differential diagnosis of disturbances of consciousness, differential diagnosis of pain in the chest and abdomen, drugs in emergency medicine and poisoning.
The project will strive to continue the operation and development in accordance with the purposes and goals of the project. It is hoped that the project will be implemented in the coming years once a year (short-term goal) and with the aim of having to organize a one-week summer school of urgent medicine for students in latest five years (long-term goal).
Access to care in disaster/emergency contexts
Lack of knowledge of emergency medicine is very concerning in our faculty, this is the reason why we have decided to establish our project Student emergency taskforce. We are students from different years of study, who are very interested in emergency medicine. Our goal is to promote emergency medicine and educate students of our faculty.
Target groups and beneficiaries:
Our target group are students of Medical faculty of University of Maribor from all years of study.
Objectives and indicators of success:
Our success indicators are improved knowledge and skills of students and their realization that emergency medicine is basic knowledge for every doctor.
Each of our projects is evaluated for itself. We have into and post quiz in Ultrafest and emergency workshop, which gives us an idea of quality of our projects. We also give an evaluation form to all participants. We also ask our participants to tell us their impressions after the end of events
